Do you do live paintings at events weddings and corporate events etc?
Yes! Painting live at events is my absolute favorite artistic outlet!
What is the cost of hiring you as a live event painter?
EVENT SPACE PORTRAIT PACKAGE: $275 per hour - 3 hour minimum
The event space, atmosphere, and guests as a whole, captured as a single, completed work of art painted live throughout the event. Artwork received will be an 11x14 archival, lightfast, gallery quality watercolor painting that will be affixed to gallery standard, natural wood cradled board, and then sealed on site under UV protective spray and wax; uniquely allowing the watercolor to be preserved and enjoyed, like an oil or acrylic painting, without being placed behind glass. Finally the work will be framed in a gallery quality Ampersand solid wood frame; wired and ready to hang on the wall by the end of the event for all to enjoy.
ROAMING GUEST PORTRAITURE PACKAGE: $200 per hour - 3 hour minimum
Candid watercolor portraits of guests created in real time as they enjoy the event;
3-5 portraits per hour. Each guest captured in portraiture will receive a 9x12 archival quality, original watercolor portrait in a protective sleeve. Portraits completed for guest after the event are $30 per portrait up to 20 portraits. Please indicate during the event which guests need to be photographed for post-event studio portraits. Portraits will be mailed out to you within 30 days of event.
COMBO PACKAGE: $250 per hour - 4 hour minimum
After the event space portrait has been completed, remaining time will be spent on roaming portraits.
What is your process for working with clients on book illustrations?
When creating illustrations for clients, I use a four part process:
Step 1: We will have a detailed conversation about your vision for the illustration; using my past illustration work as examples, and any imagery you would like to share with me.
Step 2: I will send you a very rough sketch of the illustration to make sure the illustration is moving in the right direction structurally.
Step 3: Any notes on the initial rough sketch will be incorporated into a second rough sketch.
Step 4: The final illustration will be submitted to you for review before publication.

What is Plein Air painting?
Plein Air painting is the practice of painting outdoors, directly from nature, using portable painting gear. This technique allows artists to observe and capture the changing light of the landscape in real time, providing a more authentic and spontaneous representation of the scene.
Plein Air painting gained prominence in the mid-19th century, particularly with the Barbizon School in France and later the Impressionists like Monet and Renoir.

Do you teach Plein Air painting?
Yes, I absolutely love teaching all ages and abilities! I do outdoor workshops that start with a one to two hour demo, followed by two to three hours of personalized guidance as students embark on their own Plein Air paintings. A suggested materials list will be provided before hand. While the demo will be in watercolor, students are welcome to bring whatever medium they prefer to work in as many of the concepts of Plain Air painting are universal across most mediums.
